Dr. Smith was a medical pioneer in Manitoba. He led efforts to care for the stigmatized and underserved 2SLGBTQ+ community and was the first Manitoba physician to tackle the HIV/AIDS crisis. Dr. Smith also was a tireless community and political advocate. Dr. Smith is remembered as quiet, dignified, and graceful; however, he did love a good party.

So, to commemorate Dr. Smith’s remarkable life, and at his request, this celebration is meant to be joyous. It will include appetizers and a DJ for dancing. All friends, colleagues, patients, and anybody else who was moved by Dr. Smith are welcome to attend.
