ROAR
Rainbow Outpatient Addictions Recovery
Has your life, or the life of somebody you love, been affected by substance misuse?
Have you wished that there could be a treatment program designed specifically for 2SLGBTQQIA+ people?
Well, now there’s ROAR!
What is ROAR?
Rainbow Outpatient Addictions Recovery
ROAR (Rainbow Outpatient Addictions Recovery) is a free 16 week outpatient treatment program designed specifically for 2SLGBTQQIA+ people who are struggling with substance misuse.
This is a first-of-its-kind effort in Manitoba, and is modelled after a successful program initially designed in Vancouver by JP Grimard (BA, M.Ed, RCC).
Small-group sessions are held twice a week, and, in the evenings so that people who are working and/or going to school also can attend.
Using evidence-based models that have proven successful in harm reduction, ROAR provides a combination of practical skills and strategies for people to use in their recovery. ROAR also explores culturally relevant topics for members of the 2SLGBTQQIA+ community.
Overall, ROAR will offer a unique safe space that 2SLGBTQQIA+ people cannot access in other programs available to the general public.
The January 2024 pilot program focuses on the treatment of crystal meth and other stimulants.
Funding
We hope that with continued fundraising, we will be able to offer this program on an ongoing basis for the treatment of all substance misuse.
Each full ROAR program costs at least $25,000 to run and is funded through donations. ROAR’s success will depend on people’s generosity.
Please consider donating to help us keep offering this important program for the 2SLGBTQQIA+ community.
